Fees and expenses in Family Law Matters and other Civil Disputes are typically divided equally between the parties, unless otherwise agreed. This information will clearly be spelled out in the Mediation Agreement.

Judge Gelfman’s fee for mediation services is $400 per hour, plus reimbursement for any necessary expenses. This includes time spent in preparation, phone conferences, hearings and follow up matters. There is no charge for local travel time. The cost of non-local travel time, if applicable, will be negotiated for each case.

The parties will be responsible for all fees and costs, and they may be asked to advance funds to cover fees and costs, which will also be included in the Mediation Agreement
